What type of leather do you use?

All our leather items are made from Grade A, 1.3mm full-grain premium cowhide leather. This is considered to be the optimal type of leather for motorcycle clothing. It is thick enough to be a powerful protective force with superb abrasion resistance, and yet still flexible enough to feel comfortable and adjust to your shape.

There are various types of leather on the market. Primarily, full-grain, top-grain and split leather. Full-grain leather comes from the top layer of the cowhide with the natural grain intact, making it the strongest and most durable. Top-grain leather is also from the upper layer but has been sanded or corrected, slightly reducing strength while keeping good durability. Split leather comes from the lower layer of the hide, is weaker, and is often embossed to create “printed grain” that only imitates the natural surface. For motorcycle clothing, full-grain is preferred because split and printed-grain leathers lack the necessary abrasion resistance.

What type of Cordura do you use?

We use 600D Cordura in all our textile items. Cordura is a family of high-strength nylon and polyester fabrics known for exceptional abrasion and tear resistance, which makes it an ideal choice for those who want excellent abrasion resistance but with a lighter feel and more airflow than leather.

Cordura fabrics come in various deniers, which indicate fiber thickness and overall abrasion resistance. Lighter weights like 400D offer good durability for everyday use but are not ideal for high-speed protection. Heavier versions such as 600D provide significantly better abrasion resistance and hold up much longer in a slide, especially combined with good armour. Heavier 1000D options are available, but they sacrifice some of the flexibility and airflow of lighter deniers. For motorcycle gear, many consider 600D Cordura to be the optimal balance of toughness, longevity, and rider protection.

Are all your items hand-made by artisans?

Yes, every single piece is made by hand, crafted from start to finish by one of our highly experienced team of tailors. Find out more in our artisan work page.

What type of armour do you use?

We use level 1 armour that meets the following armour standards:
EN 1621‑1:2012 - The latest standard for armour covering elbows, knees and shoulders.
EN 1621‑2:2014 - The latest standard for armour that protects the back and spine.

Your life is important, so you deserve to have armour that gives you the best possible chance of surviving any incident. All our armour is fully CE-Certified, and comes in removable pockets.

For the vast majority of bikers, the standard back protector is more than enough. However, for customers who engage in competitive racing or high-speed riding, please consider investing in a spine protector to add underneath.

Can I order a customised item?

Yes, we can adjust almost any item to meet your requirements. If you need a specific colour, or specific text on the item, we can do it. If you need a size alteration or even a full tailored suit, just contact us, and we can organise it for you. Customisations are charged at very reasonable rates, so just tell us what you have in mind and we will do our best to make it happen.

How do I care for my leather and Cordura items?

Leather - Clean by hand using specialist leather care items only. Certain products can improve water-resistance, and will keep the leather fresher over time.

Cordura - Since Cordura is just a textile, it can safely be washed in the washing machine.
